KONE Corporation, press release, April 5, 2012
KONE has won an order for 26 elevators and 20 escalators for the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre redevelopment project in Brisbane, Australia. KONE will also modernize the mechanical and electrical components of 10 escalators and four autowalks in the existing center. KONE's innovative and customized solutions will improve the flow of both people and goods within the shopping mall.
KONE was involved at the early stages of the project to create an optimal retail flow design to benefit the supermarkets, department stores and high-end shops as well as increase the convenience for shoppers. The eco-efficient solutions moving people around include 10 KONE S3000 MonoSpace® elevators for passengers, 14 KONE TravelMaster(TM) 110 escalators, which are especially designed for demanding commerical environments, as well as six KONE TravelMaster(TM) 115 inclined autowalks. To ensure the optimized flow of goods within the shopping center, there will be 16 KONE TranSys(TM) freight elevators, which accomodate roller cages and pallets for efficient restocking.
"We are excited that Brookfield Multiplex recognizes the value of our experience and expertise in creating the optimal People Flow in retail environments," says Noud Veeger, EVP and Area Director of KONE Asia Pacific.
Developed by Eureka Funds Management, the main contractor for the redevelopment is Brookfield Multiplex. The Indooroopilly Shopping Centre refurbishment is expected to be completed in mid-2014.
The order was booked in the first quarter of 2012.
